Wed 20 Jun 2007Dr. Hussain Al-Rizzo, Associate Professor, Systems Engineering Department, was recognized for his outstanding teaching when he won the $10,000 Ted and Viginia Bailey Foundation Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching. Prior to winning this award, Dr. Al-Rizzo received the College’s Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching.
Dr. Al-Rizzo joined the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) in August 2000. With over 13 years of successful career in academia, Dr. Al-Rizzo has a distinguished record in teaching. His contributions include the creation and teaching of numerous courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in telecommunications, mentoring graduate and undergraduate research, actively enging in teaching Systems Engineering Capstone Courses since inception, actively engaging in research and incorporating the insights gained into courses, actively soliciting software and hardware support for education from industry, and serving as an inspiration and role model to students.

Systems Engineering Students Make National News
Wed 6 Jun 2007Systems Engineering students Daniel Rucker, Rodney Arnold, and Tara Lancaster created a system that can reduce the time people have to wait in line to get to their aircraft. This project was part of the Senior Design Capstone course in the Systems Engineering Department in conjunction with the Little Rock National Airport.
